DIAMOND ALTERNATIVE STONES USED IN THE PAST

Moissanite and Zircon Comparison

 What is moissanite?
In stones called moissanite, although the degree of hardness is high, the inner part of the stone has light green-blue tones; that is, it creates a fluorescent appearance.

DEFGHIJK of natural diamond gives color in the Moissanite HIJ category on the color scale from white to dark, and this is not a preferred color.
Diamond has the ability to reflect 7 colors equally, but moissanite predominantly reflects blue-green tones. You can easily distinguish these bluish tones with the eye.
For this reason , it can be easily distinguished by an expert .

Carbon, which is the raw material of diamond, never absorbs liquid substances into it due to Sp3 bonds. it only absorbs light. Since the raw material of moissanite is not carbon, it absorbs the liquids you come into contact with in daily use in the long term and a blurry image occurs in it over time.

With the arrival of new technologies, moissanite stones, which lost their popularity in developed countries, started to be marketed to underdeveloped and developing countries.

In today's conditions, there is no need for the production site of moissanite stones to be a very large facility and the producers to be gemologists.

Moissanite is sold in millimeters rather than carat weight like diamonds, because carat weight is slightly different from diamond.

Although moissanite was seen as an alternative to diamond due to its affordable price in the 1990s, when it was first produced, it is no longer preferred due to the problems experienced by the consumer in long-term use.

 What are Zircon Stones?

Since the raw material of zircon stones is like glass (sand), even though a zircon stone with a beautiful cut is eye-catching when first purchased; This stone has no resistance to high temperatures, pressure and scratching. Since zircon stones are not fire resistant, they cannot be produced in a healthy way in gold mines by jewelery work. They are generally used in silver mines.

Zircons do not have the color scale of natural diamonds. In a short time, zircon stones become dull and scratched, and this is not a situation that will disappear with cleaning.
